Assignment: Myer Briggs Test & Self-Analysis: Strengths & Weakness
due: Tuesday, January 30th
Format: GOES IN LOGBOOK HOMEWORK SECTION WITH A HEADING Printed information and typed up analysis [notes and list of strengths and weaknesses] placed in the logbook homework section of the binder

Personality tests do not act as absolutes in regard to accurately categorizing anyone's personality. However, they can give valuable insight in regard to personal tendencies and proclivities in a generalized way. This is the personality quiz we have chosen for the class to take:

http://www.truity.com/test/type-finder-research-edition (If you would like to take a different Myers-Briggs personality quiz, please feel free)

Here is a great resource for finding fast tidbits about strengths and weaknesses that can be used for developing your team based on your test results:

The test chosen for the class gives a range of character possibilities and encourages the participant to decide for themselves what characteristics are accurate and where said characteristics intersect. Once you have taken the test you will be taken to a page that lists your results in large letters. Once on that page, please do the following:
-Print out the "Who are You/Scores at a Glance" page. This is the information at the end of your assessment that describes the personality type/s/ that most closely describe your results.
-Read this information entirely and take notes about what you find out on a separate piece of paper.
-Find and print out the strengths and weaknesses of the subsequent 4 letter personality assessment/s/.
-After reading your strengths and weaknesses, type up each strength and weakness. Next to each strength add how said strength could be used when participating in a group that works closely together. Then, next to each weakness, write how you might be sure said weakness doesn't detract from your group work. Here is an example. Please note this example is all digital. I invite you to do an entirely digital version too if that suits you better. You will still need to print it out to include it in your binder:

Assignment: Designer Research
due: Tuesday, January 30th
Format: GOES IN OUTSIDE RESEARCH SECTION Printed information and typed up analysis [notes and list of strengths and weaknesses] placed in the logbook homework section of the binder

Begin your outside research and continue it from this point forward until the semester ends [It will not necessarily continue to be assigned in the blog...]. You should be completing about 9 pages/week of outside research. It can include anything in regard to topics we are discussing in the classroom. To get you started, I've included some prompts or leading statement/action to get you started. This research is voluntary and independent. It should be documented under the "OUTSIDE RESEARCH" section of your logbook. This section should be labeled clearly in your logbook binder with a tab. You do not have to label this work in the same way course assignments should be labeled with a heading. Notes in the margins or annotation is your only evidence that you have actually read the content of what you put into these sections. Please remember this to receive full credit for your effort!

  • Look up Designers
    • What are their processes/methods?
    • What kind of work do they do?
    • Look at graphic designers, social designers, experience designers, UI/UX designers, illustrators, animators.
      • How do they come up with ideas? (It's ok if they are not aligned with this particular process!)
  • Look up understanding empathy? people? What is design research?
  • Look up human-centered design approaches?
  • Look up prototyping.
    • How is it done?
    • What are some techniques?
